EAST PAU L D I NG SUPERINTENDENT
Steve Barnette Interim Superintendent
Engage. Inspire. Prepare.
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I want to thank you for all the support you provide our schools and the students of Paulding County. I would also like to thank all of our athletes, coaches, boosters, and families for their commitment to our extracurricular programs. Through extracurricular athletics our students have a platform where they can demonstrate their skills and talents, and in many ways the life lessons they gain, and the bonds they form, are a perfect complement to the academic instruction they receive in the classroom.
The vision of the Paulding County School District is to “Prepare students for success, today and tomorrow,” and extracurricular activities are a vital component of that preparation. Studies have shown that students who learn the lessons of competition along with the structure and discipline of being part of a team, often have a head start on attaining success later in life, and that fits neatly with our educational vision. Teamwork and sportsmanship are values students will carry with them wherever they go. Another attribute of extracurricular activities is that they help build a sense of community by bolstering school pride. Our athletic teams play a major role in fostering a positive environment and strengthening the sense of pride we feel when our schools take the field. As we do each year, I want to challenge you to: • Treat athletics as part of the educational experience and realize the benefits of extracurricular involvement go far beyond the final score of the game. • Encourage our students to perform their best on the field, just as we would in the classroom. • Participate in positive cheers that encourage our student athletes, and discourage anything that redirects that focus, including taunting and intimidating our opponents, their fans, and/or the officials. • Learn, understand, and respect the rules of the game, the officials who administer them, and their decisions. • Respect the role our coaches serve as teachers and support them as they strive to educate our youth. • Respect the student athletes on the other side of the field and cheer for them as they strive to do their best. • Develop a sense of dignity and civility in all circumstances. Thank you again for your support, and I hope that all our students and their families have a wonderful 2021-2022 school year! Sincerely,
Steve Barnette Interim Superintendent

Welcome Raider Fans and Guests,
It is with great Pride that I welcome you to the 2021 season of Raider Football, athletics, and academics here at East Paulding High School. This year we look forward to finding more success as we continue to advance our programs. On and off the playing field, the students, faculty, and staff of the Raider Nation meet success through hard work and perseverance. We are very excited to welcome everyone to our 2021 athletic season. Our coaches and athletes have a lot to be excited about. The East Paulding Coaching staff and faculty are devoted to offering students quality programs grounded in the development of knowledge, skills, character, and confidence. It is our hope that these principles are evident in all that we do. I sincerely thank you for coming out to support the East Paulding Raiders. I hope that you enjoy the game and look forward to seeing you at other East Paulding High School events.
Brad Thomason Principal
ATH L E T I C DIRECTOR East Paulding High School Athletics Department 3320 East Paulding Drive Dallas, Georgia 30157
I welcome you to the 2021 football season at the Bone Yard! Friday nights offer communities a traditional time and place to congregate and support their students. The Paulding County School District has worked diligently towards a safe return to in-person learning and extra-curricular activities for the 2021-22 school year. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected our District, and the opportunities of our students, in many ways, but we are committed to doing everything we can to recover and improve any discontinuities in your student’s education. Although academics are our #1 priority, extracurricular activities assist with building teamwork, fair play, sportsmanship, self-esteem, and school spirit. We must intentionally give students experiences that are about more than just the game and instead are relevant to real life. All stakeholders involved in our program are on a mission to develop the “whole” player. We will impact young people’s character, academics, and athletic development in a team’s atmosphere. The goal is to operate a program at its highest level with the belief that great teams will follow. Student- Athletes will leave East Paulding a Champion for Life! If you are a parent attending a high school athletic event this fall, you can help by following these guidelines: • Act Your Age. You are, after all, an adult. Act in ways that makes your family and school proud. • Do Not Live Your Life Vicariously Through Your Children. High school sports are for them, not you. Your family’s reputation is not determined by how well your children perform on the field of play. • Let Your Children Talk to the Coach Instead of You Doing It for Them. High school athletes learn how to become more confident, independent, and capable—but only when their parents don’t jump in and solve their problems for them. • Stay in Your Own Lane. No coaching or officiating from the sidelines. Your role is to be a responsible, supportive parent—not a coach or official. • Remember, participating in a High School Sport Is Not About Getting a College Scholarship. According to the NCAA, only about two percent of all high school athletes are awarded a sports scholarship, and the total value of the scholarship is only about $18,000. • Make Sure Your Children Know You Love Watching Them Play. Do not critique your child’s performance on the car ride home. Participating in high school sports is about character development, learning and having fun—not winning and losing. You can have a major influence on your child’s attitude about academics and athletics. The leadership role you take will help influence your child and our community in the future. We look forward a tremendous year in athletics and sportsmanship in all the East Paulding High School activities. We appreciate your support!

EPHS HEAD COACH
Dear Raider Fan, I am very excited to start this 2021 football season and being the head coach at East Paulding is a responsibility I do not take lightly. I will work tirelessly to earn the trust of the players, parents and community. We build our football program on three core fundamentals: • Academics will be a priority. Expectations in the classroom will be high and good behavior is nonnegotiable. We will celebrate academic achievement, support academic struggles and punish academic failures. • Socially and emotionally, I want our student-athletes to be servant leaders. I believe our society is becoming more and more selfish and I want our players to be the difference; understanding the value of serving others and putting others in front of themselves is the beginning of doing just that. Molding great behavior and manners is paramount. My ideal player is an animal on the field and a gentleman off the field! • Athletically, I believe in fundamental football. Football is a simple game. The guys who blocks and tackles the best are typically victorious. I also expect our boys to play with high level of football IQ. Studying the game, mastery of the playbook and being in the best physical shape will all be expectations of our young men. This season we have a new motto, “Flip the Switch.” We are striving as a team and a family to be leaders on the field and in the classroom. We want our team to be compassionate, hardworking and have amazing character off the field in everything that they do. On the field, we want to flip the switch! Aggressive, strong, and focused on the win. A gentleman off the field and an animal on the field! We are ONE RAIDER. We are East! I look forward to another great season of Raider football and I thank you again for allowing me the honor to be your coach and GO RAIDERS! Respectfully Yours,
