Engage. Inspire. Prepare.
Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! Thank you for supporting our schools and students in Paulding County. I also want to thank our athletes, coaches, boosters, teachers, and families for their dedication to our extracurricular programs. These activities give students a chance to develop and showcase their skills, learn important life lessons, and make lasting friendships, which complement their academic learning. Our vision in the Paulding County School District is to “Prepare students for success, today and tomorrow.” Extracurricular activities are a big part of that preparation. Studies show that students who learn the lessons of competition, structure, discipline, and sportsmanship through team activities often have a head start on success in life. Extracurricular activities also help build a sense of community and school pride. Supporting the extracurricular activities of our students is crucial for their development and success. Here are some tips on how to provide positive support: Encourage Participation : Show enthusiasm for their participation and encourage them to try new things and explore their interests. Consider extracurricular activities an extension of the educational experience and help them balance their activities and academic responsibilities. Celebrate their Effort : Encourage them to perform their best and celebrate their hard work, dedication, and improvement, not just their wins or top scores. Support our Coaches : Build supportive relationships with coaches. Understand their goals and expectations for the team or group. Encourage Good Sportsmanship : Encourage them to be respectful to their teammates, opponents, and officials. Help them learn, understand, and respect the rules of the game and teach them to handle both victory and defeat. Be a Role Model : Set a good example by demonstrating a positive, supportive, and respectful attitude in your own activities and interactions. Avoid taunting or intimidating opponents, their fans, or officials. Respect the rules of the competition, the officials, and their decisions. By following these tips, you can help your child get the most out of their extracurricular activities and support their overall growth and development. Best wishes for an outstanding 2024-25 school year! Thank you again for your support! Sincerely,
Steve Barnette Superintendent
