Call of the Wild
A ccording to artist and designer Ellen Macomber, her son's light filled bedroom is the reason she bought her Central City house. "Previous owners installed the windows which were from a cabin in North Carolina. I stood at the window and looked into the backyard and knew that this was the house for us," she explains. I totally agree. Donald, 6, is living in the coolest treehouse of a bedroom ever. The magnificent windows create an automatic portal to an imaginative sense of adventure. Ellen describes her aesthetic as "Curated Madness" and "Heirloom Heavy." Indeed the room is filled with wonderful art, well-loved keepsakes, and treasures found on their many travels. "If Donald or I don't see the magic in an object, then it's not for us." The room is organized into various activity spaces. Ellen's grandmother's desk received a fresh coat of paint to create a future homework and art station. A big cozy bed and a daybed for guests is layered with colorful patchwork quilts that Ellen scored at estate sales, her "side obsession." There's a table that Donald sets up train layouts and as
