I t did my heart good to focus all month on child-like optimism, laughter, and creativity. Pandemic or not, kids know how to have fun. Their boundless energy and exuberant curiosity is infectious, and focusing on their world was extremely uplifting. As we face the challenges at hand, creating comforting and peaceful havens for children and encouraging their joyful play has never been more important. Spending time with Casi St. Julian, who will bring her son into the world any day now, was one of the best days I've had in months. She happily showed me every tender detail in her nursery. And in those moments, in the cocoon she has created, I was filled with great hope. We all know moms have superpowers, but Casi has them in spades. Calm, confident, funny, and strong, I felt empowered when I left her home. Thank you Casi — yes, everything's going to be alright.
