A highlight of the evening for me was speaking with visual artist Marjorie Brown Pierson and Board President Suzanne Dumez about the collage 'Channel Lace' that Marjorie generously donated for the live auction. Anticipation was definitely building! With auctioneer Ruthie Winston at the auction stand, things got lively. And when the gavel went down, longtime KID smART supporter Jim Mounger was pronounced the highest bidder. I am already looking forward to next year's fundraiser as KID smART continues to exceed their goals. Take a look at their inspiring website and I hope to see you at the 2020 gala.

I enjoyed chatting with co-chair Martine Chaisson Linares about childhood ballet lessons and our belief that ballet study builds confidence and self-esteem. Although I never progressed further than being a mouse in the Nutcracker, I learned so much about self-discipline and patience. She had me laughing when she said "for now, my toddler is more of a tapper." To be honest, I'm probably more of a tapper myself. And co-chair Erin Romney-Cazes, founder of Romney Studios, knows the power of teaching students in multi-layered ways.
