H appy New Year! Somehow the words feel very different this year. Normally when I am drinking champagne and ringing in the new year, I've been to an endless stream of holiday parties, been up to my eyeballs with family, and I'm celebrating the highlights of the past year just as much as I am looking forward to the next. Well, this year the highlights were more like lowlights and 2020 rolled out in the most challenging of ways. I can't look back over fabulous vacations, large weddings, or parties for milestone occasions. But what I can look back on is a year of seismic change where New Orleanians banded together with compassion, ingenuity, fortitude, and kindness. It's a different kind of reflection to be sure, but just as deserving of celebration. We're getting through the pandemic. We're keeping our community safe. We are doing everything we can to keep our businesses, traditions, and culture alive. New Orleans matters and we will get through this. So, yes, Happy New Year. Let's get to it.
