R achel Bondy and Jordan Rummel met as teenagers while working as camp counselors in Fairfax, Virginia. "We had a whirlwind romance that Summer — everything you imagine that being young and in love for the first time would be,'' Rachel explains. Jordan then went to Boston for college while Rachel completed high school. "We wrote letters and visited one another as much as possible for two years, before deciding to experience college as singles when I headed to Tulane. It was a loving break up with each of us moving on to date other people and we grew a ton." By chance, their paths crossed again before Rachel's final year, and Jordan immediately applied for and landed a job here. When they decided to get married, "New Orleans was the only place that felt right. This is where we fell in love for the second time and started our lives as adults together." The authentic, relaxed vibe of Il Mercato was the perfect setting for the intimate ceremony and reception of their dreams. "We wanted the day to feel colorful and exuberant. The flowers by Antigua — utterly joyful, ringing in Spring — represented everything celebratory about being together after two years of the pandemic. I think my bouquet was the most beautiful in the world!" So was the cake by Bittersweet Confections, the signing of the Ketubah including artwork created by Jordan's mother, and the exchanging of vows they'd written themselves.
