E mily Walker Puckett, owner of Em's Boutique in Metairie, has an exuberant and high-energy style that is well-curated in both her popular women's clothing shop and her vibrant Uptown home. As she explains, "my home makes me happy the minute I walk in the front door. I'm always drawn to texture and color and I love all things animal." Just like in her boutique, which is celebrating its 14th year, this renovated Italianate double shotgun house, bold in color and layered with collected treasures, is an artful mix of pattern, periods, and personality. The house had been newly renovated when Emily purchased it and the floorplan was perfect – public rooms on one side and all the private rooms on the other. But Emily, newly married, wanted to put her own stamp on the home the Pucketts use when not in Houston, their home base. Designer Chad Graci, a master at creating spaces that are as stylish as they are comfortable, brought his expertise to the project. First the bathrooms and closets were updated with a luxurious spa- like vibe and the entire house got a fresh coat of White Dove by Benjamin Moore. The kitchen had just been redone by the previous owners, so Chad focused on changing the existing basic lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware to achieve a more intentional look.
