FOOTBALL COACHES SAM HONEYMAN DEFENSIVE LINE
Coach Honeyman is beginning his third season coaching and teaching at East Coweta High School. This will be his 12th season coaching and 6th year teaching. Coach Honeyman comes to EC after coaching one season at Harris County. He was the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line coach. Before that, Coach Honeyman spent two seasons at La- grange High School serving as Defensive Coordinator. Before moving to Georgia, Coach Honeyman spent four years at Rocky Mountain College (MT). During his tenure at RMC he coached Running Backs, Linebackers, Special Teams Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator. In 2010, Coach Honeyman was the Defensive Line coach at Highland Community College (KS). In 2009, Coach Honeyman coached at Hellgate High School (MT) defensive line coach.
Coach Honeyman graduated in 2009 from Dickinson State University (ND) with a degree in Composite Social Studies Education. He graduated with a Masters in Coaching and Sports Administration from Concor- dia University Irvine, CA. He obtained his Education Specialist in 2021 from University of Augusta, GA. He is originally from Billings Montana and graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School in 2004. Coach Honeyman, his wife, Anne Honeyman, and their daughter Charlotte, live in Newnan.
CHASE SMITH 9TH GRADE HEAD COACH
COACH CHASE SMITH is beginning his fifth year with the East Coweta Football program, and second year as the ninth grade head coach. Coach Smith currently teaches Health and Physical Education at ECHS and also coaches the girls track program. Smith began his coaching career at Heri- tage High School in Conyers, GA where he spent one year as a defensive backs coach under Head Coach Chad Frazier. In 2013, Smith moved his coaching career to Coweta County as the Head Football Coach at East Coweta Middle School. In just his second season, he led the team to the championship game where they were the county’s runner-up. By 2015, Smith and the ECMS Indians won the county championship with an un- defeated season, their first county championship since 1998. Smith played

football at Northgate High School where he was a 4-year Varsity linebacker and still holds the school’s re- cord for the most tackles ever recorded by a player with 421 tackles. Smith furthered his football playing ca- reer with a scholarship to the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he played linebacker for three years under Head Coach Myron Schulz, before transferring to the University of West Georgia. While at UWG, Smith earned his Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. Coach Smith is married to his wife Maggie and the couple has two daughters; Sterling is four and Collins is one.
