JOHN SMALL HEAD COACH

Coach John Small enters his 5th season at East Coweta High School and 23rd season overall after previously serving as the Head Coach at South Gwinnett High School from 2005-2016. Before becoming the head coach at South Gwinnett he served as Defensive Coordinator and assistant principal at Oconee County High School from 2002-2004. Prior to that he served as an assistant at South Gwinnett High School from 1999-2001, and an assistant coach at the University of West Georgia from 1997-1998. Coach Small is excited about being a part of the Indian Nation and looks forward to continuing to build relationships within this great community. His overall philosophy is to create an environment where young people desire to do their best, both on and off the field. Coach Small and his wife Julie have been married for 22 years and have two daughters; Ashton a Junior at the University of West Georgia and Emma a rising Senior at East Coweta. JACKSON DEAN ASSISTANT HEAD COACH/ OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR/QUARTERBACKS

Mr. Jackson Dean is starting his 9th year of teaching and 11th year of coaching. 2021 will mark his fifth year at East Coweta. Coach Dean coached 2 years of high school football at South Gwinnett High School and Hillgrove High School before beginning a two year stint at the college ranks at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. He then took the receiver job at Lowndes High School in 2015 before being promoted to passing game Coordinator the following year.Coach Dean graduated from South Gwinnett High School in 2006, Valdosta State University in 2010 with

a bachelor’s degree in History, and from Northwestern State University in 2014 with a masters degree in health promotion. Coach Dean is married to the former Lauren Mcknight, and has two sons Cohen, born on July 4th, 2017, and Hollis, born on March 6th, 2020.
