Stephen Allen is beginning his 9th year as Principal at East Coweta High School; however, he is not new to the Indian Reservation. From 1997 to 2005, Mr. Allen taught special education here at East Coweta before moving to Smokey Road Middle School as an assistant principal from 2005 to 2007. He then spent the next seven years as an assistant principal and Athletic Director at Newnan High School from 2007 to 2014. He returned to ECHS during the 2014-2015 school year as an assistant principal. Mr. Allen has a Bachelor of Business Administra tion from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, and he obtained his Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision and his Certification in Special Education from the University of West Georgia. He completed his Ed.S. in Administration and Supervision at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. Mr. Allen and his wife Kelli, who is a special education teacher at Willis Road Elementary, have a daughter Kison who graduated from ECHS in 2017, and a son Taber, a 2010 ECHS graduate. Hap Hines is beginning his 6th year as Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at East Coweta High School, and his 19th year in public education. In 2018, Coach Hines was named Athletic Director Of The Year for Region 2-7A. Prior to joining the administration at ECHS, Coach Hines taught Special Education for 4 years and Health and Physical Education for 9 years, while coaching football and tennis. Coach Hines earned his undergraduate degree from The University of Georgia in Education, where he also played and lettered 4 years in football for the Bulldogs as the team’s starting placekicker. He earned his masters in Health and Physical Education from Jacksonville State University, as well as his specialist’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. Coach Hines enjoys playing golf and tennis in his spare time, and is also a huge college football fan. He and his wife, Kelly, have a 12 year old daughter (Edie), and an 9 year old son (Harris). Kelly is the Executive Director at The Coweta Samaritan Clinic. Their children are proud students in the Coweta County School System. Mrs. Kristi Lanave currently serves as Assistant Principal of East Coweta High School. She is responsible for 10th grade discipline and oversees Fine Arts, Business, Family & Consumer Sciences, Drivers Education, and MCJRTOC departments. She brings 21 years of educational experience to East Coweta High. She has served as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, Science Department Chairperson, and Leadership Team member. Mrs. Lanave has earned a Bachelor Degree in Biology, Master and Specialist Degrees in Curriculum & Instruction, and is in pursuit of her Doctor of Education Degree. She is certified in the fields of Curriculum & Instruction, Broad Field Science, and Middle Grades English Language Arts. Mrs. Lanave and her husband, Joe, have three children, Jenna (husband Mason), Joe Jr. (wife Skyler), and Khloe, and a boisterous grandson, Gabriel. She loves spending time with her family and supporting her students and staff at East Coweta High School.

AMY WESTBROOK currently serves as an Assistant Principal at East Coweta High School. She is responsible for MTSS, PBIS, and is the 504 coordinator. Dr. Westbrook brings 23 years of experience to East Coweta High School. She served as both a high-school and middle school teacher, instructor, and department chair. Dr. Westbrook earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Westbrook is certified in Mathematics (grades 7-12). Dr. Westbrook and her husband, Adam, enjoy spending time with their family.

Stefanie Easterwood currently serves as Assistant Principal of East Coweta High School. She is responsible for 12th grade discipline and oversees the Exceptional Students’ Department. Mrs. Easterwood brings 26 years of edu cational experience to East Coweta High School. She has served as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, Science Department Chairperson, and as an In-School Special Education Coordinator. Mrs. Easterwood has earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialist Degree in Teacher Leadership. Mrs. Easterwood is certified in the fields of Broad Field Science and Special Education. Mrs. Easterwood and her husband, Adam, have two daughters, Emily (husband Jesse) and Brianna, and a beautiful grandson. She loves spending time with her family and supporting her students and staff at East Coweta High School. Chad Kollert currently serves as Assistant Principal at East Coweta High School and oversees the Math Department.. Mr. Kollert brings 19 years of educational experience to ECHS. He has coached middle school and high school football and wrestling along with teaching many different Science courses. Mr. Kollert earned his Bachelor’s degree from The University of Akron in Secondary (7-12) Science Education, and his Masters and Specialist degrees in Curriculum and In struction from LaGrange College. His wife Heather Kollert currently teaches 1st grade at Willis Road Elementary. Mr. and Mrs. Kollert have 2 daughters: Mia is a 9th grader and Harper just turned 2. Mr. Kollert enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and looks forward to being able to support the students and staff of East Coweta High School this year.

Dekima Leaphart currently serves as an Assistant Principal at East Coweta high. Mrs. Leaphart brings 13 years of educational experience to East Coweta High School. She oversees Curriculum, 10th grade, English, and the credit repair/recovery programs. She has served as a high school teacher, Science Department Chair, and on the school Leadership team. Mrs. Leaphart has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Specialist degree in Science Education and Tier I Leadership. Mrs. Leaphart is certified in the fields of Science and Educational Leadership. Mrs. Leaphart is married to Chriss Leaphart and they have four children, Destin (EC Graduate), Deven (EC Graduate), Geneva (EC Graduate), and Marley (10). Lee Heaberlin is beginning his fourth year as an Assistant Principal at East Coweta High School, and 15th year in public education. Mr. Heaberlin previously taught and coached at West Chatham Middle School, H.V. Jenkins High School, Sandy Creek High School, and East Coweta High School before becoming an administrator. Mr. Heaberlin is a 2003 East Coweta Honor Graduate lettering in both football and baseball. Mr. Heaberlin graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2008 with a B.S. in Special Education, earned his Master’s Degree from the University of West Georgia in Special Education, and his ED.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lagrange College. He is married to Hannah Heaberlin, also an ECHS graduate, and they have two daughters Paisley (10) and Bailey (6). RONNIE VANDIVER currently serves as Assistant Athletic Director. Coach Vandiver is in his 21st year as an ECHS Indian. He received his B.S. and M.Ed from North Georgia College in Recreation Administration and Health and Physical Education and his ED. S in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. In addition to being the Assistant Athletic Director, Coach Vandiver also serves as Assistant Golf Coach. He has forty years of coaching experience which have produced a state runner-up and State Championship at East Hall High School in Basketball. Coach Vandiver and his wife, Sue, have four children- Holly, Blake, Scott and Lindsay. We also have nine grandchildren- Mallory, Andrew, Parker, Addisyn, Evelyn, Miles, Sam, Jane and Ashton.

MISSY WATSON currently serves as the ECHS Athletic Administrative Assistant. This is her ninth year at ECHS and her seventh year as the Athletic Administrative Assistant. A non-Georgia Native, her family was prior military and moved often, coming to Sharpsburg in 2012. She is the proud wife of Rick Watson and proud mother of their children Shelby (23), Taylor (21), and Noah (19). When she isn’t working with her ECHS family, she enjoys reading and spending time with friends and family.

Coach John Small enters his 6th season at East Coweta High School and 24th season overall after previously serving as the Head Coach at South Gwinnett High School from 2005-2016. Before becoming the head coach at South Gwin nett he served as Defensive Coordinator and assistant principal at Oconee County High School from 2002-2004. Prior to that he served as an assistant at South Gwinnett High School from 1999-2001, and an assistant coach at the Uni versity of West Georgia from 1997-1998. Coach Small is excited about being a part of the Indian Nation and looks forward to continuing to build relationships within this great community. His overall philosophy is to create an environment where young people desire to do their best, both on and off the field. Coach Small and his wife Julie have been married for 23 years and have two daughters; Ashton a Senior at the University of West Georgia and Emma a Freshman at Kennesaw State University. Coach Small enjoys playing golf, hunt ing, fishing and spending time with his family.

Coach Washington is entering his 14th year on the sidelines for the Indians af ter spending one season as an assistant at Jeff Davis High School in Alabama. He will oversee the development of the defensive secondary. After graduating from Spalding High School in 2003, where he played football and baseball. He con tinued his playing career at Morehead State University and Auburn University Montgomery. Coach Washington obtained his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education, his Masters in Kinesiology and his Education Specialists in Curriculum and Instruction. COACH ANDY WASHINGTON HEAD COACH

INDIANS Coach Horan is a native of Norfolk, Virginia, and attended Granby High School where he lettered in track and football. He began his college career at Christopher Newport University where he majored in biology and played middle linebacker for the CNU Cap tains football team and was a part of the USA South conference champions in 2006. Coach Horan continued his education and completed his undergraduate in Health and Physical Education from Old Dominion University in 2017 and his master’s degree in Strength and Conditioning from Lagrange College in 2020. His coaching career began in 2018 as the head football and track coach at Arnall Middle School in Coweta County where their team won back-to-back county football championships in 2019 and 2020. In 2021, Coach Horan began coaching football and track at Fayette County High School and was promoted to head strength and conditioning coach as well as the defensive coordinator for the football team in the spring of 2022. Coach Horan will be returning to Coweta County as a member of the East Coweta staff and will be coaching tight ends and teaching health and physical education. Coach Horan enjoys football, baseball, golf, and weight lifting as well as spending time with his wife, Krista, and two daughters Bailey, and Aubree. COACH TOM HORAN VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Coach Honeyman is beginning his fourth season coaching and teaching at East Cowe ta High School. This will be his 13th season coaching and 7th year teaching. Coach Honeyman comes to EC after coaching one season at Harris County. He was the Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line coach. Before that, Coach Honeyman spent two seasons at Lagrange High School serving as Defensive Coordinator. Before moving to Georgia, Coach Honeyman spent four years at Rocky Mountain College (MT). During his tenure at RMC he coached Running Backs, Linebackers, Special Teams Coordinator, and Recruiting Coordinator. In 2010, Coach Honeyman was the Defensive Line coach at Highland Community College (KS). In 2009, Coach Honeyman coached at Hellgate High School (MT) defensive line coach. Coach Honeyman graduated in 2009 from Dickinson State University (ND) with a degree in Composite Social Studies Education. He grad uated with a Masters in Coaching and Sports Administration in 2016 from Concordia University Irvine, CA. He obtained his Education Specialist in 2021 from University of Augusta, GA. He is originally from Billings Montana and graduated from Billings Central Catholic High School in 2004. Coach Honeyman, his wife, Anne Honeyman, and their daughter Charlotte, live in Newnan. Coach Roc is back to the sidelines for the Indians for year 17, after being at Northgate High School for the past 3 years. He has also been the Head JV baseball coach at ECHS for 21 years. He currently teaches Physical Education at Jefferson Parkway Elementary. Upon graduating from Frisco City High School in 1997, Coach Roc attended Jacksonville State University and was a 2 year letter man as an Outside/Inside Linebacker for the Gamecocks. After his career ended due to injuries, he became a student coach his final 2 years. Coach Roc earned his Bachelors, Masters, and Specialist degrees in Physical and Health Education from JSU. Coach Roc is a native of Frisco City, Alabama where he attended Fris co City High School. During his time there he was a standout baseball/football player. Coach Roc is married to Coach Ricki Wynn. The couple have two chil dren. Maya, 16 and Mason, 14. Mark Barfield is starting his 8th year of teaching & coaching, entering his 6th year at East Coweta High School. The two seasons prior he was at South Gwin nett coaching safeties & outside backers, where they reached the second round of the playoffs. Previous to his coaching stint in high school, Mark worked at the collegiate level with the South Alabama Jaguar football team, assisting the defense & the safety position, as well as leading the team development for players on & off the field. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Business and has his Masters in Counseling & Mas ters of Divinity. Coach Barfield is from Augusta, Georgia.

Coach Holt is in his first season as the Offensive Coordinator for the East Coweta Indians. He has previously been a coordinator at Harris County, Valdosta, and Troup County High Schools. He brings with him over eight years of coordinator experience to the Indians sideline. In 2017 he led Troup County High school to be the 2 nd in Passing Yards for the entire state with 4,042 yards in the air. The following year of 2018 Troup finished the season as the 2nd in the state in Total Yards and reached the Semi-Fi nals with a 12-2 record. In 2019 at Valdosta the wildcats finished 1st in total points in AAAAAA Classification averaging 39 points per game. They also finished the season 5 th in total passing yards in the entire state. Last year at Harris County High school he lead the offense to finish 10 th in the state in all classifications in total yards for the season. He also helped Harris County win their first ever away playoff win against Ductchtown with a 56-35 victory. Kelby is married to Heather Holt and they have three children, Lilah (7), Kannon (5), and Harley (3). They currently reside in Pine Mountain, Ga and members of Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg, GA.

Coach Dennis Edwards is entering his 4th year on the sidelines for the Indians. He will oversee the Varsity and JV Offensive Lines. After graduating from South Gwinnett High School in 2014, where he played football and participated in track and field. Coach Ed wards continued his playing career at Western Kentucky University and Purdue Univer sity, where he was fortunate enough to win 2 Conference Titles, and 3 Bowl Champi onships. Coach Edwards obtained his bachelor’s degree in business leadership (WKU), and his masters degree in Leadership Technology (PU). Coach Edwards also serves as the Co-Recruiting Coordinator for the Indians.

My name is Nicholas Johnson. Starting 5th year on staff coaching Offense/Run ning Backs and teaching Special Education at East Coweta High School. Coach Johnson is also the JV Head Coach. Outside of football, he coaches varsity lacrosse at EC where he resides as the head coach. Born and raised in Dadeville, AL. Played football for Richard White at Dadeville High School…was a three-year starter…named team Offensive Most Valuable Player as a senior…was a first team all-district and all-region selection. Went on to play collegiate football at Jacksonville State University under the leadership of head coaches Jack Crowe, Bill Clark, and John Grass. Started a total of 49 games as a Gamecock, won 3 consecutive conference championships, played for a National Championship in 2015, and was voted first team all-conference as a senior. Received a Bachelors of Science in Special Education in 2017 from Jacksonville State University. Grad uated with his Master’s Degree from the University of West Georgia in the Fall of 2020 and he is currently working towards his specialist.

Mr. Ronald Steinhelfer is starting his 5th year of teaching and 8th year of coaching. 2022 will mark his 2nd season at East Coweta as their Wide Receivers coach. “Coach Stein” coached 3 years of high school football at Lowndes High School and 3 years at Crisp County High School after he served 10 years in the United States Air Force. He took the tight end and H-backs job at Crisp County High School in 2018 before being promoted to Offensive Coordinator for the 2020 season. Coach Stein graduated in 2008 from Bellefontaine High School in Ohio, Bowling Green State University in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Technology, and the University of West Georgia in 2022 with a master’s of Art and Teaching degree in Teacher Education . Coach Stein and wife, Jennifer Steinhelfer, have three sons Carter(8), Carson(6), and Carden(3).

Coach A.J. Ellis is entering his 4th year on the sidelines for the Indians after spending 10 seasons as an assistant coach at Sandy Creek High School in Fay ette County. He will be the 9th grade head coach, and coach the quarterbacks for 9th grade. He will also be coaching basketball at East Coweta. A graduate of Northgate High in 2008, where he played football, basketball and baseball, he began coaching while working on his Associates degree at Georgia Military College. He is married to McKenzie, and they have one daughter, Remi, who is 1 year old.

COACH AJ ELLIS 9TH GRADE HEAD COACH

Todd Crafton is currently teaching his 14th year at East Coweta High School, focusing on Computer Science. Overall, this is his 15th year teaching after graduating from Georgia Tech and Georgia State. After previously serving as a lacrosse coach for both boys and girls, he joined the football staff for the first time as Director of Football Operations in 2018, and has loved every minute of it. He and his wife Lisa recently celebrated their 13th year of marriage and they have one son, Chris, who is currently in 4th Grade at Glanton Middle School, where Lisa is a 1st Grade teacher. In his spare time, He likes to spend time with family, read, play video games, and trav el. He is excited about the prospects for this season and can’t wait to see what these young men can achieve both this year and going forward.

This will be the third season that Coach Ingram has coached at East Coweta. This season he will be the 9th grade defensive coordinator as well as coaching linebackers and receivers on the 9th grade team. Coach Ingram obtained his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Kennesaw State University and his Masters in Teaching at the University of West Georgia. He is currently enrolled at UWG for his Education Specialist in Instruc tional Technology. Coach Ingram is married to our Athletic Trainer, Allison Ingram.

Jon Pilato - 9th Grade Defensive backs and Running backs. Jon Pilato is starting his 9th year coaching and his first at East Coweta. Previously Jon was at Union Grove HS for 4 years where he coached Defensive backs and Receivers. While at Union Grove Jon was also the boys Head Lacrosse coach. Prior to Union Grove, Jon was at High Point Central HS in NC for 3 years coaching Defensive backs, and spent 1 year at Ledford Senior HS in NC coaching Defensive backs. He graduated from High Point University with a bache lor’s degree in history and received his certificate in education. Coach Pilato was born in Newnan but grew up in Fayetteville where he graduated from Starr’s Mill in 2013.

Coach Carroll is excited to begin his second year as the 9 th grade offensive/ defensive lines coach at East Coweta. For the past seven years Coach Carroll has served as the head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Timberland High School in St. Stephen, South Carolina. He is a 2009 graduate of Newnan High School. After high school he went on to play college baseball at Darton State, and graduated from The University of West Georgia in 2014 with a Bach elor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education. He and his wife Brittany have one daughter Anna Claire (8).

Jim McKnight is starting his ninth year as an assistant trainer/community coach. How ever, he has been around the Indians program since he graduated from ECHS in 1983. He attended the University of West Ga. He has one son Jay McKnight who played for the Indians from 2011-2014, And was a middle linebacker & team captain. . Jim’s duties include managing the sidelines for practice and games, making sure the players and staff have what they need to run our successful program.

Larry Robertson is beginning his 27th season as the “Voice of the Indians.” He took over the announcing duties in 1995 from his brother, Wayne who was the “Voice of the Indians” for 23 seasons (1973-95). Larry is an alumnus of ECHS (1974) and a former football player (1970-73). He is also an alumnus of the University of West Georgia (1979) and is a member of the Coweta County Board of Education, District 1, At Large (2012-present). He is married to his high school sweetheart, Janet Robertson, who is also an alumnus of ECHS (1974) and who recently retired from the Coweta County School System. They have two daughters, Natalie Robertson (ECHS 2010, UGA 2014) and Melanie Robertson (ECHS 2012, GSU 2016). They are members of St. George Cath olic Church in Newnan and reside in the unincorporated Raymond Community. Every day is a GREAT day to be an INDIAN. GO INDIANS!!!! Danny Branch begins his 18th year as SVP - Chief Information Officer for AMB Sports & Entertainment (AMBSE) and boasts more than 30 plus years of expe rience in systems development, deployment, and support. As Chief Informa tion Officer, he is responsible for all information technology related activities for the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and all other enterprises in the Blank Family of Businesses. Highlights from Branch’s tenure at AMBSE include leading the creation and launch of the Atlanta Falcons first official mobile app, Falcons Mobile, directing the launch of the Falcons first re tail operations and Team Store and leading the initial creation and launch of the official e-commerce site for PGA TOUR Superstore. Branch also leads all IT op erations for Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the technology experience behind the stadium’s award-winning fan experience, which culminated in a record-breaking IT and technology performance during Super Bowl LIII at MBS.

Coach Ingram is beginning her fourth school year at ECHS as the Head Ath letic Trainer. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Point University in 2016, where she was a collegiate cross country runner. She then earned her Masters Degree in Athletic Training from Life University in 2018. Her love for Athletic Training came from being a college athlete and working through injuries with her athletic trainers throughout college. Allison and her husband Hunter moved to Luthersville from Canton so that they could both work at ECHS. She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her husband and their beloved dog, Brody.

KAYLEE BREWER HEAD JV COMPETITION/SIDELINE ASSISTANT

Mrs. Jodi Guess is starting her 20th year of teaching and coaching and entering her 11th year at East Coweta High School. Here at ECHS, the Varsity competitive team has won the Region Title five times (2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021) and placed in the top 6 at the state cheerleading champion ship several times in previous years. She was the Region 6AAA Coach of the year in 2009, 2012, and the Region 2AAAAAAA Coach of the year in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021. She graduated from the Uni versity of West Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education and has her Masters in Educational Ad ministration from Walden University. She will be graduating this spring with her specialist degree in Advanced Educational Curriculum Studies. She is looking forward to another successful year for all of the ECHS cheerleading squads. Coach Guess is a former graduate of McIntosh High School. She is married to Kevin Guess and they have a beautiful sassy 11 year old daughter, Avery, who will be attending East Coweta Middle School. Go Indians!

Mrs. Kaylee Brewer has been teaching and coaching cheerleading at ECHS for 7 years. As a former Indian, Kaylee cheered on the Varsity Coed Competition team her freshman year before transferring to Sandy Creek High School where she graduated from in 2011. She received her Bache lor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Georgia in May of 2016 and her Master’s degree from Kennesaw State University in May of 2019. Kaylee is a Spe cial Education teacher in the self-contained classroom setting where she teaches stu dents in grades 9-12. Kaylee currently lives in Grantville with her husband, Hayden, and their 1-year-old daughter, Raelynn. She is so excited for this season! One of Kaylee’s favorite things about coaching at East Coweta is being able to coach with her sister, Coach Tierman. She is very excit ed for this season. Go Indians!

Mrs. Haleigh Tierman has been teach ing at ECHS for four years in their Family and Consumer Sciences department. She graduated from East Coweta High School in 2012. This will be her third year working with the ECHS cheer program as the Head JV sideline coach and Assistant JV competi tion coach. She received her Bachelor’s de gree in FCS-Human Development & Family Sciences from the University of Georgia in December of 2016 and her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point in May of 2022. Haleigh and her husband, Kevin, live in Grantville with their two dogs Jax and Lucy. She is very excited to continue teaching and coaching at her former high school! INDIANS Mrs. Katee Smith has been teaching for three years and is currently the art teach er at Brooks Elementary. Katee is a proud graduate of ECHS where she cheered and was on the dance team. After graduation she attended Auburn University and then went on to be a flight attendant. She is ex cited to come back to her hometown after moving around the country with her hus band who was in the USAF. Katee currently lives in Turin with her husband, Aaron, and their two children. She is excited for the upcoming season and to be back under the Friday night lights of Garland-Shoemake Stadium! Go Indians!

MARCHING INDIANS

The East Coweta Marching Indians have brought national and international recognition to the citizens of Coweta County. They have performed in prestigious events such as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parades; The Lord Mayor of Westminster’s New Year’s Day Celebration in London, England; the Waikiki Holiday Parade in Honolulu, Hawaii; the New Year’s Day Parade in Rome, Italy; the Disneyland Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Hollywood Christmas Parade, both in Los Angeles, California. The Marching Indians have been awarded many Grand Championships and Best in Class awards, and have been a Bands of America Regional finalist since 2010. In addition to the Marching Indians, the ECHS Band Program offers three concert bands, a jazz band, winterguards, an indoor percussion ensemble, and many small chamber ensembles throughout the year. This year, Drum Majors Kaytlynn DeWinter and Eliza Thomas will be leading the 150 Marching Indians through numerous half-time performances, competitions, and parades.

MARCHING INDIANS

Robert Owens is in his twenty-third year as Director of Bands at East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. Prior to that, Mr. Owens was the Assis tant Director of Bands for two years at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Georgia, and three years at Starr’s Mill High School in Fayetteville, Georgia. A native of Calhoun, Georgia, Mr. Owens graduated from Calhoun High School and received his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. At JSU, he belonged to the Wind Ensem ble and the A Capella Choir, as well the “Marching Southerners.” In 1990, Mr. Owens marched with the DCI finalist “Spirit of Atlanta” Drum and Bugle Corps under the direction of Tam H. Easterwood, who was then the Director of Bands at East Coweta High School. During his tenure at East Coweta, the concert bands and the marching band have consistently received superior ratings and many first in class awards. The Wind Ensemble has performed at The University of Alabama High School Honor Band Festival, The Columbus State University Honor Bands of Georgia Clinic, The Kennesaw State University Concert Band Invitational, the Southeastern Honor Band Clinic at Troy University and the Music For All concert band region al at Georgia State University. Mr. Owens was introduced to music at an early age by his father, Charles T. Owens, who had many gospel songs published by the Stamps Baxter Publishing Company. He is a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Convention, and the National Band Association.

ROBERT OWENS DIRECTOR OF BANDS

Chris Neidhardt is currently in his 17th year as the Associate Director of Bands at ECHS. He conducts the Symphonic Band, co-conducts the Concert Band, and assists with the Wind Ensemble and Marching Indians. He is also the director of the Jazz Band and Saxophone Quartet. Originally from Marietta, Georgia, Mr. Neidhardt earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2006. He and his wife, Kathryn, live in Newnan with their two sons, Matthew and William.

MARCHING INDIANS

Mary Collins is currently in her 29th year at ECHS and her 27th year as the Band Secretary. Originally from Stafford, Kansas, Mrs. Collins graduated from Ste phens College in Columbia, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science. When she’s not at school working with the band, she’s busy celebrat ing newborn babies with her company, Welcome Storks. Serving Newnan and surrounding areas, Welcome Storks are 6-foot tall stork signs that announce to friends and neighbors that a precious baby has arrived. She and her husband, Clay Collins, enjoy spending time with their family - Kate Collins, Meg and Jef ferson Yancey, and grandson, Henry Yancey.

MARY COLLINS BAND SECRETARY

JAMES CHRISTIANSEN ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF BANDS

James Christiansen is in his fifth year as band director at Lee Middle School after serving as band director for nineteen years in the Houston County School System. Mr. Christiansen is a graduate of Georgia Southern Uni versity where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. He also holds a Master of Music Education degree from Auburn University and an Education Specialist degree from Georgia Southwestern State University. Mr. Chris tiansen was a marching member of Magic of Orlando and the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Mr. Christiansen is an active tubist in the Middle Georgia Area. He is a charter member of Wellston Winds, and is co-founder of Camp ExtravaBANDza! summer music camp. His bands have earned consistent superior ratings at their yearly performance evaluations. Mr. Christiansen is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, NAfME, and Georgia Music Educators Association where he has served as Honor Band Clinic Organizer, Band Chair and Vice District Chair for District Eleven. Mr. Christiansen and his wife, Donna, enjoy spending time with their dogs, traveling during the summer, and attending Georgia Southern Football games in the fall. They are currently dreaming of their next travel adventure.
