Marching Indians ROBERT OWENS DIRECTOR OF BANDS

Prior to that, Mr. Owens was the Assistant Director of Bands for two years at McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Georgia, and three years at Starr’s Mill High School in Fayetteville, Georgia. A native of Calhoun, Georgia, Mr. Owens graduated from Calhoun High School and received his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville,

Alabama. At JSU, he belonged to the Wind Ensemble and the A Capella Choir, as well the “Marching Southerners.” In 1990, Mr. Owens marched with the DCI finalist “Spirit of Atlanta” Drum and Bugle Corps under the direction of Tam H. Easterwood, who was then the Director of Bands at East Coweta High School. Marching Indians MARY COLLINS BAND SECRETARY

Mary Collins began her career at ECHS in 1993 and is currently celebrating her 32nd year as a proud East Coweta Indian! During her first two years at EC, she worked as an assistant in the English Department and oversaw the operations of their three computer labs. However, in August of 1995, when the band needed a new secretary, she was assigned that position … and as they say, the rest is history! For the last 30 years, she has loved working with the band students, directors, staff, and

the many dedicated band parents who have become friends along the way. In addition to her band work, Mrs. Collins is a clerk for the entire school. Some of her non-band responsibilities include scheduling bus transportation for all non-athletic trips taken, programming the daily slideshows for the school’s tv monitors, and overseeing ECHS’s property inventory for the Coweta County School System. Originally from Stafford, Kansas, Mrs. Collins graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science. When she’s not at school, she stays busy celebrating newborn babies with her own company, Welcome Storks. She and her husband, Clay, enjoy spending time with their two daughters, Kate Collins (ECHS 2012, UGA 2016, GSU College of Law 2021), Meg Yancey (ECHS 2009, UGA 2013), and their son-in-law, Jefferson Yancey. They are also the proud grandparents of three grandsons: Henry Yancey (age 4) and identical twins, Tate and Beau Yancey (age 2.) Their two dogs, George and Joe, happily round out their family.

CRYSTAL JOBE COLORGUARD INSTRUCTOR

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Princess Senoia

KYLIE SCOGGINS Princess Senoya He-ne-ha was a member of the prestigious Wind Clan of the Creek Indians here in Coweta County, and wife of Captain William McIntosh, a recruiter from the British Army. Their son, Chief William McIntosh, was both a General in the Army and one of the most prominent Chiefs of the Creek Nation. The Wind Clan was dominant in

establishing present-day Coweta County. Furthermore, the Eastern part of the plot of land took on the greatest significance... Within Creek legend, East Coweta is considered to be the most hallowed ground within the county. Originally known as Willow Dell, our local town of Senoia changed names in the 1860’s to honor Indian Princess Senoya. Here at East Coweta High School, under the Friday night lights at Garland Shoemake Stadium, you will find our representation of the beloved Indian Princess. Junior Kylie Scoggins has the honor of representing ECHS again this year as our mascot Princess Senoya. She valiantly rides her horse War Chief up the hill in the southwest corner of our stadium and throws the ceremonial spear before every home game. Kylie and horse Molly (“War Chief”) both train at Cedar Ridge Ranch, located on Gordon Road in Senoia.
