16 Worthless Stubble or Costly Stones?

“ We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:10). 

nce upon a time in a western town, a horse bolted away pulling a wagon that carried a small boy. Spotting the child in peril, a daring young man risked death by stopping the runaway buggy. Sadly, the rescued child grew into a lawless adult. Eventually, he ended up before a judge, awaiting sentence for a serious crime. Recognizing the judge as the man who saved his life years before, the prisoner begged for mercy on the basis of that earlier experience. The judge’s reply stymied the plea: “Young man, on that day I was your savior; today, I am your judge, and I sentence you to be hanged.” 1 Two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ came to this planet as Savior. Next time, He’ll come back as Judge. The thought of Christ returning gloriously and victoriously brings about a mood of celebration. However, the idea of Him coming again judiciously instills a certain amount of apprehension, and so it should. O
