In 1914, English explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton led an expedition to the South Pole. In a time of frozen frenzy, he was forced to leave most his men stranded on Elephant Island while he journeyed for help. Safely reaching South Georgia Island, he secured another ship and returned to rescue his crew. Nearing Elephant Island again, he found an opening in the ice and went ashore. With little time to spare, he boarded his men and slipped out before the ice became impassable. When the jubilation subsided, Sir Ernest asked one of the crew, “How did it happen you were packed and ready for my coming and that you were standing on the shore ready to leave at a moment’s notice?” The man replied, “When you left you said you would come back for us, and we never gave up hope.” 2 Don't give up hope! Jesus promised He'd come again and He will. In the meantime, make the most of every opportunity to grow in Him and help others on their journeys as well.
