Someone with a Face

“He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).



little boy, scared of the shadows in his room, called for his mother. “God is there with you,” she gently answered. “Yes, I know,” responded the boy, “but I want someone with a face!” Over 2,000 years ago, as mankind languished in sin, God put on a face and sent His only Son to earth as a newborn baby, just a few miles down the road from Jerusalem. Yet, Jesus was around long before that. As we examine the Son, let’s start with His inception. As the second member of the Trinity, Jesus existed before the world began. Scripture says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God ” (John 1:1, emphasis added). Note the portion of the verse that I put in bold letters. Why? Because Jesus is God! Teaching in the temple, Jesus proclaimed, “I and the Father are one.” A few days later, he said to the disciples, “ He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 10:30, 14:9).
