Fulfillment of divine promises— Since the begin- ning of time, God has made promises, both conditional and unconditional, to His children. Although many of these have been carried out, a few still remain that won’t be fulfilled until heaven invades earth. Let’s examine this by looking first at those given specif- ically to the Jews, the first being the literal land promised to Abraham: “From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates. I will give to you and your descendants after you, the land your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God (Genesis 15:18, 17:8). Although Israel hasnever occupied all the land promised to her, this will change when the millennium arrives. In addition to Abraham’s promise, David’s dynasty will be reinstated as well. According to Moshe Gold, former director of the Ramah Israel Institute, “Israelis once able to look to their leaders in a paternalistic manner, now see them as only politi- cians. In the past, Israel could find strength in national pride to stand alone in the world. Today there is a national void that can only be filled by a generation of godly leaders.” 575 Such a time will come when the true Messiah comes to the earth to assume control. “The Messiah now identified in heaven as the ‘Lion of theTribe of Judah, the Root of David,’ will reign over earth as King of Israel, the rightful heir to King David’s throne.” 586 As the Lord promised the one after His own heart, “Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever” (2 Samuel 7:16). Resulting from the above will be the establishment of Is- rael’s worldwide prominence. As those 1000 years unfold, Israel will become the global epicenter, with Jerusalem emerging as
