ah’s visions (Zechariah 4:1-3), builds a bridge with the Jewish people and depicts the importance of God supplying power through the oil of His Spirit. When the two finish their testimony, “The beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them” (Revelation 11:7). Once dead, the pair will remain in the streets of Jerusalem for three and a half days, after which they come back to life and are taken up to heaven (Revelation 11:8-12). The great news out of this is that from death, comes life. The Bible says that following a time of death and destruc- tion, “The rest were terrified and gave glory to God” (Revelation 11:13, emphasis added). The “rest” refers to the surviving Jews entering into the Kingdom of God before it was everlasting too late.What a marvelous celebration in the midst of destruction. Those coming from a people who played a key part in the death of God’s prophets and crucifixion of His Son have now repent- ed of their sins and become His children. I once read a fable about the time Satan called together a group of his henchmen, sending them out to turn the hearts of men and women away from spiritual matters. When he asked for volunteers, a demon came forward.When the devil asked him to reveal his plan of attack, the henchman replied, “I will tell the children of men that there is no heaven.” Satan immediately responded, “They will not believe you, for there is a little bit of heaven in every human heart; and in the end everyone knows that right and good must have the victory.You may not go.” A second volunteer came forward, darker and more foul than the first.When asked for a strategy, the demon said, “I will tell them there is no hell.”The devil glared at him and said, “Oh no, they will not believe you. For in every human heart is a conscience—an inner voice that testifies that not only will
