would have taken away from more important projects, such as the writing of this book. I’m reminded of the words John the Baptist said when Jesus appeared on the scene, ones which have become the mantra for the rest of my life. “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). By getting over my desire to have the spotlight on me allows it to constantly point to Him. This list is just a partial representation of the issues that contribute to our issues with inferiority and low self-esteem. If you identified with one or more of them, then shift your focus and max- imize what God says about and does for you – examining the following truths. God created you. When you’re feeling inferior and insignif- icant, carefully consider that “God created man in His own image” (Genesis 1:27).That means we have been fashioned in the likeness of the great I AM, the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient One. Because He made you, you are valuable.As David said in one of his songs, “For you formed my inward parts;You wove me in my mother’s womb. . . I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14). Referring to the birds in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26). Not only are you valuable, you are unique. If no two snow- flakes are alike you can rest assured that no two human beings are the same – as proven by no two people having the same fingerprints. In fact, we’ve now advanced to the eye for identification. Your life may have begun at conception, but God knew you long before then.These words to the prophet are just as applicable to us as they were to him 2,600 years ago: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). Be aware of your priceless- ness in your Maker’s eyes, knowing, as a great theologian once said, “God don’t make no junk.” God loves you. I’ve stood before crowds while in India on
