prophetic fulfillment, a time when God will complete yet-un- fulfilled promises to Israel. Since the Millennium is arguably the most misunderstood of End Time events, I’d like to devote this chapter to an overview of it, examining first the binding of Satan. As “the prince of the power of the air,” the devil has wreaked havoc on this our fallen earth since the Garden of Eden.Yet for this thousand year period, he will be kept from carrying out works of destruction for which he has been so infamous for thousands of years. Although this was mentioned in conjunction with Armageddon, it’s worth repeating because if its significance. Remember that John saw an angel come, grab hold of the devil, and cast him into the abyss for a thousand years (Revelation 3:1-3).The reason Satan’s imprisonment is so important is that it sets the stage and provides the backdrop for other Millennial events, this being a period of unprece- dented peace. Scripture describes three types of peace, two of which are currently attainable – peace with God, which is synon- ymous with salvation (Romans 5:1) and the peace of God (Philippians 4:7), which describes a content, maturing believer who is walking in the Spirit. The third type, future peace, getsushered in once Jesus comes to reign on earth. Though most people have a yearning desire for world peace, it’s not going to happen until Christ, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), returns and the Millennium gets underway.At that point, warring nations “Will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nations will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war” (Isaiah 2:4). Jerusalem, a hotbed of violence for centuries, will undergo monumental change.Those considered most vulnerable, chil- dren and the elderly, will hang out and play in the streets with
