the blood of His Son Jesus and the seal of His precious Holy Spirit. Not only is that the key to the abundant and eternal life of believers alive today, it’s especially significant for those alive during the tribulation. Even in the midst of such devastation, God continues to reach out to His people with a message of hope and opportuni- ty for repentance. We see this happening in particular by way of prophetic testimony from two witnesses.As Scripture says, “I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophecy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth” (Revelation 11:3) Understanding these verses is difficult, even by Reve- lation standards, yet these words from Paul provide a clue: “I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be!” (Romans 11:1). Most evangelicals believe that as the end times approach, Jews will not only return to their “Promised Land,” but will also turn to Christ as their Messiah, the One they have rejected throughout the centuries – not all, as some claim, but some. With the “time of the Gentiles drawing to a close (Luke 21:24, Romans 11:25), these two prophets are tasked with helping to lead masses of Jews into the fold.The fact that they “Have the power to shut up the sky, so that rain will not fall during the days of their prophesying; and they have the power over the waters to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire” (Revelation 11:6), connects them with the minis- try of Moses and Elijah – representatives of the law and proph- ets.That said, I don’t believe that these two are actually them, as they were on the Mount of Transfiguration (Mark 9:4). We also learn that “These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth” (Revelation 11:4).This account, a definite reference to one of Zechari-
