The devastation of Jerusalem— The Holy City has been the object of mass destruction numerous occasions throughout history, yet none will compare to the final on- slaught brought about in the end times. With his headquartersin shambles, the Antichrist, backed by a confederation of gen-tile nations, will make the move to Jerusalem. The post exilic prophet Zechariah predicted this event. As the Lord declares, “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around it, and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah” (Zechariah 12;2). Despite putting up a gallant fight, the battle will be lost. To symbolize their victory, the enemy will smite the leader of Jerusalem on the cheek (Micah 5:1). In addition to that, houses in Jerusa- lem will be plundered and the women subjected to mass rapes (Zechariah 14:2). The battle of Bozrah – With Jerusalem under siege, the majority of Jews still alive will escape to the countryside. This fulfills the words of Jesus: “When you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION . . . then those who are in Judea must flee to the moun- tains” (Matthew 24:15-16). Learning this, the Antichrist will reroute his troops to the south to capture and kill those who remain. Jeremiah prophesied this centuries before it happened, writing, “‘For I have sworn by Myself’ declares the Lord,‘that Bozrah will become an object of horror, a reproach, a ruin and a curse; and all its cities will become perpetual ruins.’ I have heard a message from the Lord, And an envoy is sent among the nations, saying,‘Gather yourselves together and come against her, And rise up for battle!” (Jeremiah 49:13- 14).
