Cory Nix
This is Coach Nix’s first year as Head Football Coach at Temple High School. Prior to arriving at Temple as the Head Coach, Cory Nix most recently was the Defensive Coordinator at Central High School under Darius Smiley in which they made the playoffs back to back seasons. Cory returned to Carroll County in 2019 as the Defensive Coordinator at Villa Rica High School joining Christian Hunnicutt. Cory spent two years in Gordon County as the Head Football Coach for Gordon Central High School. During the early years of Cory’s coaching career, he was able to coach under John Ford at Roswell High School in Fulton County. Coach Nix served as the Special Team’s Coordinator and Inside Linebacker coach for two years at Roswell. During his time at Roswell, the team had a 22-5 record (14-1 which was the most victories in a single season in the 65-year history of the school), making it to the state playoffs twice {2nd round in 2014, State Championship in 2015) and winning the Region 5AAAAAAA championship in 2015. Prior to coming to Roswell High, he coached at Woodstock High under Brent Budde, Sequoyah High under Sid Maxwell, Chamblee High under Brent Miller, and was a Student-Assistant at UAB for his college coach Watson Brown. During those years he served as a position coach for Offensive Lineman, Tight Ends, Defensive Lineman, Linebackers and a Special Teams Coordinator.
Coach Nix is a Physical Education Teacher who is in his 18th year of teaching and coaching. Coach Nix has also coached as a head coach or assistant coach in other sports during his career which are Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, Track and Soccer.
Coach Nix is a native of Cherokee County, Georgia and graduated from Sequoyah High School. He attended and played football {Tight End) on scholarship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham {UAB) and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History. During his time at UAB he was coached by Head Coach Watson Brown and Offensive Coordinator Pat Sullivan. He recently completed his Masters of Science in Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University and he will begin his Specialist at Augusta University in January. Nix and his wife, Kacy, live in Temple, Ga and they have three children, Mackenna (15), Hudson (13), and AJ (8). Kacy is part of the Carroll County family and serves as an educator and In School Coordinator at Temple High School. The Nix family attends church at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Carrollton.
