PRINCIPAL SETH ROGERS

Welcome to beautiful Rogers Stadium, here on the campus of Temple High School, the proud home of our Tigers. If you are just visiting, or are the parent of a future Tiger we are excited to have you. If you are one of our distinguished alumni, welcome home! Thank you for joining us tonight in support of our Temple High students. Whether they are members of the band, the cheerleading squad, or the football team, we are proud of their dedication and are pleased to showcase their talents here tonight. There is nothing

like dancing along with our band as they play our fight song, seeing the glow of the Friday night lights off our black helmets, and watching our cheerleaders cheer the Tigers on to victory. Allow me to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the members of the Carroll County Board of Education and to Superintendent Scott Cowart, for providing ongoing support for our students and faculty. It is my honor and privilege to serve as Principal of Temple High School. As a school, we are committed to providing our students with a premier high school experience. BOOSTER CLUB

BUILDING BETTER TEAMS, BY BUILDING BETTER ATHLETES

The Booster Club exists to promote and support inter-scholastic athletics and related activities. The Booster Club raises funds throughout the year using several different activities including the Annual Golf Tournament and $10K drawing, the 5k run on Founders Day and much more. As a non-profit organization, all proceeds go to support athletics in as many ways as financially possible. The Booster Club has helped with Stadium Seats, Tennis bleachers, Weight Room Equipment, Golf Equipment, Cheer mats, lights for baseball and softball, meals for the teams, Summer Camps, all Awards Banquets and much more! Our desire is to increase school spirit in the community and student body and to support our student athletes in every way. This can only be made possible with your help! The more members we recruit, the less work on everyone and our athletes will receive all of the benefits!

THS HISTORY

Temple played its first football game on September 17, 1988. Dreams had became a reality. The first Temple team played a JV Schedule and was undefeated. Temple had no football field, and from 1988 through 1991 home games were played at Villa Rica, Central or Mt. Zion. A group of dedicated Temple supporters, led by THS principal Denzil Rogers, worked tirelessly laying sod, tying rebar, driving dump trucks and frontend loaders to make the dream of Temple Football Stadium become a reality. The stadium was completed in 1992, and the first home game was played on October 23rd, 1992. That night the stadium was named Rogers Stadium in honor of Denzil Rogers, who dared to dream, plan, build and achieve. Not only did the Temple Community of parents, teachers and supporters build the stadium, they also raised money to pay for it. They spent countless hours working a concession stand at Atlanta Braves games, selling raffle tickets and holding other fundraisers. This football season marks the 31st anniversary of this accomplishment. Rogers Stadium is truly an example of a school and community working together to achieve a goal.

HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

This is Coach Nix’s second year as Head Football Coach at Temple High School. In year one of the Coach Nix Era our Tigers finished the 2022 season going 4-7 and losing to Metter High in the first round of the GHSA state playoffs. In 2022 the Tigers finished the season 3 wins better than the previous season. Prior to arriving at Temple as the Head Coach, Cory Nix most recently was the Defensive Coordinator at Central High School under Darius Smiley in which they made the playoffs back to back seasons. Cory returned to Carroll County in 2019 as the Defensive Coordinator at Villa Rica High School joining Christian Hunnicutt. Cory spent two years in Gordon County as the Head Football Coach for Gordon Central High School. During the early years of Cory’s coaching career, he was able to coach under John Ford at Roswell High School in Fulton County. Coach Nix served as the Special Team’s

Coordinator and Inside Linebacker coach for two years at Roswell. During his time at Roswell, the team had a 22-5 record (14-1 which was the most victories in a single season in the 65-year history of the school), making it to the state playoffs twice (2nd round in 2014, State Championship in 2015) and winning the Region 5AAAAAAA championship in 2015. Prior to coming to Roswell High, he coached at Woodstock High under Brent Budde, Sequoyah High under Sid Maxwell, Chamblee High under Brent Miller, and was a Student-Assistant at UAB for his college coach Watson Brown. During those years he served as a position coach for Offensive Lineman, Tight Ends, Defensive Lineman, Linebackers and a Special Teams Coordinator. Coach Nix is a Physical Education Teacher who is in his 20th year of teaching and coaching. Coach Nix has also coached as a head coach or assistant coach in other sports during his career which are Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, Track and Soccer. Coach Nix is a native of Cherokee County, Georgia and graduated from Sequoyah High School. He attended and played football (Tight End) on scholarship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History. During

his time at UAB he was coached by Head Coach Watson Brown and Offensive Coordinator Pat Sullivan. He recently completed his Masters of Science in Kinesiology at Georgia Southern University in 2021. Nix and his wife, Kacy, live in Temple, Ga and they have three children, Mackenna (16) , Hudson (14), and AJ (9). Kacy is part of the Carroll County family and serves as an educator and In School Coordinator at Temple High School. The Nix family attends church at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Carrollton. Quote: As your head coach, I will strive to provide premier experiences for our student athletes to #CarrytheBanner. It is my goal to make sure that I do everything I can to help students achieve their goals in life whether it is on or off the field. It’s true what they say, Once a Tiger Always A Tiger! Go Tigers! #TigerPride
