spiritual standpoint. I remember witnessing to a lost man who lived on the road near the church I pastored in my younger years. After I presented the simple plan of salvation, he responded, “I just don’t see it.”This should really come as no surprise, since, accord ing to the Bible, “A natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him” (1 Corinthians 2:14). Realizing the danger of slipping into such thinking, even as a believer, I sing, “ Open the eyes of my heart Lord, Open the eyes of my heart, I want to seeYou,” 3 as well as the words to this 1976 Ma ranatha worship classic: “Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus, to reach out and touch him, and say that we love him. Open our ears, Lord, and help us to listen. Open our eyes Lord, we want to see Jesus.” 4 Thankfully, God answered Elisha’s prayer, which led to a: Vision- As Scripture says, “The Lord opened the servants eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17). One of the great mysteries of the faith, still today, is the unseen spiritual activity going on around us. Angels and demons are continually engaging in spiritual battles that we don’t even know about. Fortunately, as the Word says, “He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone” (Psalm 91:11,12). Not only are the angels looking on, but saints in heaven as well.As theWord says, “we have so great a cloud of witnesses surround ing us” (Hebrews 12:1).You can’t see them, but they’re there, cheering you on.Therefore, lay aside your sin and run with endur ance the race set before you.
