Director’s Message Tracie Ivey

Welcome 2024! The Villa Rica Parks & Recreation Department staff is excited for the year ahead and continuing to provide fun and healthy opportunities for the citizens of Villa Rica. My staff and I are here to serve you in the best way possible, so let’s get to it! The new year is off to a fast start. Although our youth basketball teams have been practicing for several weeks now, the actual season will kick-off in early January. Games are typically played at the Gold Dust gym on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Some of our teams will also travel to other locations in Carroll County. Registration for Youth Sports and the annual Daddy Daughter Dances is underway. Girls Volleyball for ages 9-14 is being introduced for the first time this spring. If you have a daughter who has wanted to give that sport a try, now is her chance. This past year was a very busy and successful period with the addition of new programs and the fortune of several new people joining our team. Christina Ruiz and LaMeah Battle joined the Programs Division while Collin Cash is now the Customer Service Representative. All these employees have been great additions to our department and the increased programming is the result of their supporting efforts.

Tracie Ivey Parks & Recreation Director

Whether you’ve just moved to Villa Rica or are a lifelong resident, this book is your guide to the many recreational activities available here. From a modern library to indoor & outdoor athletic facilities, – as well as parks for walking, biking, or running – the city provides something for everyone, no matter how old or how young. The Villa Rica Public Library is a member of PINES and the West Georgia Regional Library System. It’s a modern facility that not only features state-of-the-art reference materials but also weekly activities to help school students and parents keep their minds active and learning. To keep you physically active and available to every neighborhood, there are nine recreational facilities spread across the city. This book will help you learn about the various youth and adult athletic programs, gymnastics, fitness classes, and special programs that are provided at these facilities. The spring sports programs are gearing up as registration will begin on January 2nd. A new girls volleyball program will be available for the first time at the recreation department. We can’t forget about our Seniors. There are many options for our senior population to take advantage of as well. Pickleball is now very popular with every age group, but our seniors are loving it more and more every day. Day trips, games, BINGO, Birthday Bashes, and other offerings keep our center very busy. Don’t forget that there is also a lot to do in Villa Rica throughout the year. Parks and Recreation will host the annual Daddy-Daughter Dance in February and Family Field Day in April. Concerts at the Mill will kick-off with the Jazz Festival in late April and the Summer Concert Series will begin in June, continuing through August. Check the city’s FB page and subscribe to the Weekly Happenings Newsletter through Villarica.org On behalf of myself, the City Council, and the employees who keep our city great, I hope you will take advantage of all the things there are to see and do. There are a lot of great things happening and our work for tomorrow continues today!
