Phillip L. Hale has 23 years’ experience as an educator and coach. He holds a BA Mathematics-Univ of Arkansas at Little Rock and a MS Secondary Education-Troy University. His coaching experience over the 23 years is immense! Arkansas Baptist Jr/Sr High-WR/DB, Dollarway HS, Pine Bluff AR-DC ILB, North Gwinnett-CB/FS, LaMarque TX-DC Rover/ Dogs/FS, Shiloh HS, Snellville GA-DC ILB, Archer HS, Lawrenceville GA-Rover/Dogs, Peachtree Ridge HS, Duluth GA-DC Rover/Dogs, Central Gwinnett HS, Lawrenceville, GA-DC ILB, Colquitt County HS, Moultrie GA-Rover/Dogs, Elbert Coun ty HS, Elberton GA-DC ILB, Dooly County HS, Vienna GA-Head Football Coach/Athletic Director/Rover Dogs, and now East Paulding HS-ILB. He has been married to his wife , Yolonda Hale for 29 years. They have three sons, Devin, Caleb, and Joshua . I am a Miami native, I graduated for Miami Southridge High School. I was a member of the track and football team. I am also a member of my high school Hall of Fame (Silver Knights). My senior year I awarded Most Valuable Running Back and Co-Captain on our football team. I lost 3 games in high school, two of those losses were state champi onship games, I regular season game. I received a full athletic scholarship to Tulane University, I was a four-year starter, my freshmen year I scored the first touchdown of the season on national television against FSU. During those four years at Tulane, I was pound for pound the strongest player on the team. I also won the team co-captain and Most Valuable senior awards in 1989. I graduated in 1990 with my B.S in Sports Administration. I returned to Miami Southridge after college, I was the pool sub for two years before I became a full-time teacher. Year 2 a became a varsity football coach and that season we tied Orlando Evans for the 6A State Championship at 12-2-1. Two years later after hurricane Andrew hit Miami, we were back in the state title game and finished up 15-0 and the following year we lost the state championship game to finish 29-1 back-to-back seasons. My high school coach Don Soldinger also coached at the University of Miami, where he was the running-back and special teams coordinator. This gentleman taught me everything that I know about coaching football. He is also am member of the University of Miami football Hall of Fame. 13 kids that I have coached been on NFL rosters, 5 kids have been pre-season Heisman candidate. One kid in College Hall of Fame, one with a Super Bowl ring, 8 kids that are members of Hall of Fame at the universities that they attended., Troy Davis 2nd place votes for Heisman in 1996 2009 I moved to Woodstock Ga and for 10 years I taught Physical Education and coached at Etowah High School. I coached the running backs, and I was the special team’s coordinator. I was a member of the coaching staff that went to the Semi-Final Championship. Doing my time at Etowah I also coached track and field and girls’ lacrosse. On the track team I coached pole vault, shot put, discus. Every year I coached that group they competed at state track meet. My last 3 years I coached track and field and cross country. For the 1st time in 15 years the boys track team competed in the state track meet. This year our boys won the 4x200 relay and set a state record, 4x100 finished 3rd and 5th in 400 meter and 3rd in the 200. This is my first year here at East Paulding High School, I am coaching the OL and assist with the track team. I have coached football for 33 years; I was a head coach for 5 years at Miami Southridge High School.
