After the death of Ahab, the most evil of the seven who ruled the northern tribes, his son Ahaziah took the throne. Ungodly like the others, he served for only two years before facing an untimely death. As we move along in the work of Elijah and examine our central text for this chapter (2 Kings 1), let’s first look at a freak affliction that occurred in the life of Ahaziah.While hanging out at his palace in Samaria, he fell through a lattice, which must have been some type of wooden structure connected to an upper room window. However serious, when the leader of a country falls, it’s cause for concern.
