Christ “Will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked” (Isaiah 11:4). Why is this necessary, one might ask, since resurrected believers with glorified bodies are now populating the earth? Because resurrected believers now possessing glorified bodies will live alongside the remnant of lost souls who have survived the tribulation. In fact, those who enter into this time in their natural bodies will continue to bear children, which will not be the case with those who have glorified bodies. Despite Christ’s supreme reign and Satan’s imprisonment, nations in general and lost people specifically will continue to sin, necessitating His swift and accurate punishment. Note next that heaven invading earth will be character- ized by a variety of tangible improvements, detailed as follows: Changes in the land – the first being topological modi- fication. As a result of a massive, seismic shift, the land around Jerusalem will be lowered to a level plain, while the city itself will be elevated. In addition, “Living waters will flow out of Jerusa-lem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea” (Zechariah 14:8). Given the extensive damage caused by tribulation de- struction, there will be a great need for earthly restoration, much like Europe in the wake of WWII, only much more significant and extensive.The centerpiece of this massive project will be the refurbishment of the Temple.What was desecrated by the Antichrist will be reconstructed by God’s people and inhabited by Christ.
