It is only when Jesus returns with His heavenly army, as we’ll later see, that they are turned back and defeated. A basic tenet of the Christian faith, the Trinity, is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. As we’ve seen time and again throughout the course of history, Satan often counterfeits God’s good through devious duplicates of his own. Thus, the formation of and devastation caused by an unholy trinity. As we dive deeper into a discussion of this heinous alli- ance, let’s explore the mastermind behind it, Satan, by first examining his origin . Known also as the “devil,” “accuser,” and “adversary,” Satan was actually created by God as an angel, meant for good. He served God in the highest order, anointed to cover the throne. Many believe he was the praise leader of heaven. Sadly, Lucifer, as he was known, became dissatisfied in that privileged position. Consumed with pride and ambition, he wanted to be equal to God, desiring even to take over His position. The Bible says in Isaiah 14:12-14: How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morn- ing, son of dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You have weakened the nations! But you said in your heart,“I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of the assembly In the recesses of the north. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” As these verses indicate, because of his blatant, blasphe- mous insubordination, Satan was cast out of heaven, along with millions of lesser angels now known as demons, who serve as his henchmen (Revelation 12:7-10).
