About Our Speakers 

William Schmitz Jr, PsyD serves on the Board of Directors of  the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) in the capacity  of Past‐President since his Presidential term concluded (2013‐ 2015). His involvement and commitment to AAS is proven by  his leadership in various roles to include Chair of the Clinical  Division; Chair of the AAS Task Force on Improving Clinical  Competency in Suicide and AAS Publications Review  Committee Chair.  Dr. Schmitz is a licensed psychologist in the  state of Louisiana and provides clinical services to patients who  are regularly at high risk for suicide. Additionally, Dr. Schmitz  does consulting work through Campbell & Associates, LLC as a  forensic suicidologist. His commentary on CNN has enlightened 

the world following the August 2014 suicide of celebrity Robin Williams and the high  profile case of the Germanwings suicide in March 2015. Working at the forefront of  suicide prevention and social media, Dr. Schmitz has consistently promoted training of  clinicians and the use of technology to advance suicide prevention, intervention, and  postvention. He is a recognized national leader who is both a clinician and consultant  with a focus on veterans, law enforcement officers and first responders.
