God equips you. There’s no reason to feel inferior and lack confidence when God stands ready to do His work through you, especially when it comes to speaking on His behalf. Upon being called by God at the burning bush, Moses doubtfully expressed, “I have never been eloquent . . . for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue,” to which God responded, “I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to say” (Exodus 4:10-12). When Jeremiah voiced a similar concern the Lord said, “Do not be afraid of them . . . behold I have put my words in your mouth” (Jeremiah 1:8-9). God said to Zechariah, “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit” (Zechariah 4:6). God won’t call us into anything without equipping and enabling us to complete the task. God directs you. “The mind of a man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps” (Proverbs 19:9). If you’ll seek and yield to Him, this wonderful promise will be activated: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6). My wife and I have had two houses built in our 35 years of marriage. Each time, the contractor carefully followed detailed plans that lead to beautiful and well-built structures. It gives me great assurance and confidence knowing that God has such a plan in place for my life – and for you as well. God awaits you. The greatest treatment of all for inferiority and self-doubt is knowing we’re merely strangers and sojourners passing through this fallen world.A seat at God’s great marriage sup- per of the Lamb is there for every child of the King (see Revelation 19:7-9). So, if you’ve worked your ways through the previous steps and still find yourself in a struggle, consider the fact you may be homesick for heaven where the best is yet to come.
