Kierkegaard, the Danish philosopher, once told about a goose that was wounded and landed in a barnyard with some chickens. He played with the chickens and ate with the chickens. Before long, the goose thought he was a chicken. One day while migrating, a flight of geese flew over the barnyard. They gave a honk while passing and the goose heard it. “Something stirred within the breast of this goose,” said Kierkegaard. “Something called him to the skies. He began to flap the wings he hadn’t used and rose a few feet into the air. Then, he stopped and settled back again into the mud of the barnyard. He heard the cry, but he settled for less.” If you’re hearing the call of God, don’t settle for less. Rise up from the mud and mire of self-doubt and soar into the sky of God’s plans and provisions.
