IV. SAFE WORKPLACE
A. GENERAL SAFETY RULES
At AURIA, our employees’ health and safety is considered in every aspect of our business. We take your health and safety seriously. Your well being on the job is an important priority. Not only do we want to be the best automotive interior supplier in the world, we also want to be the safest producer of automotive interiors. Safe work practices are a vital part of the quality process - as important as making products that meet the rigid standards in the automotive market. In addition to following plant and job specific safety rules, each employee is asked to understand and follow the Company’s general safety rules. Employees in violation of these or other safe work practices are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. General Safety Rules (Includes but not limited to:) All job related injuries, illnesses or near misses no matter how slight, must be reported to your supervisor immediately . 1. All unsafe conditions and work practices must be reported to your supervisor immediately. 2. Control of Hazardous Energy procedures must be observed on all machines and equipment before repairs, maintenance or adjustments are made. Lock Out procedures must be followed whenever: An employee is required to remove or bypass a guard or other safety device; An employee is required to place any part of their body into an area of a machine or piece of equipment where work is performed (point of operation) or where an associated danger zone exists during a machine operating cycle. 3. Do not defeat, remove, or by-pass the purpose of safety devices such as guards, shields, covers, or interlocks - they are placed there to protect you. 4. Operate machinery or equipment only if you have been instructed in the safe and proper method of operation. 5. Never attempt to perform maintenance or electrical repairs unless you are authorized to do so. Inform your supervisor of needed maintenance work. 6. Operate forklifts or electric trucks only if you have been instructed and licensed for their operation. Improper operation of forklifts may result in dismissal. 7. Avoid muscle strains and back injuries when manually lifting materials. Lift only the weight you are accustomed to handling using proper lifting techniques. Get help for heavy, bulky, or awkward items. 8. Wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing jobs that require such protection. PPE may include eye protection, gloves, ear plugs and respirators. The use of PPE requires training and, in some cases, medical evaluation of employees. Do not attempt to wear PPE in the work place without proper instruction in its use. 9. Proper storage of materials and finished parts is essential to ensure work place safety and maintain product quality. Do not overload skids or pallets. Store material properly so it will not collapse, slip or fall. 10.Housekeeping is critical to a safe work place. You must keep your work area clean and free of waste material. 11.Keep aisles and passageways clear. Do not block exits, fire doors, extinguishers or electrical panels.
