Poetry Break Booklet
MEET SOME OF THE POETS, THEIR POEMS & THEIR STORIES:
Frank Clay Jr.
You might say, I am a Langston Hughes type poet, who writes with rhythms and contemporary themes that can help us understand and cope with the realities of life. When I want to take a break… I read and write poetry. It just does it for me - it’s my jam. I have always wanted to be a poet from the time I got my first library card. Poetry to me was freedom in writing what I wanted to write. I was a letter writer back when we wrote letters to each other. I was a Valentine Day writer of love rhymes and I made my own greeting cards. My poetry could not be graded but only appreciated. I wrote poetry to communicate the struggles, realities and joys of life. I wrote to have a voice in the universe poetically. I have self-published two books: PRESS ON - Truthful Insights into the Lives We Live and WARM THOUGHTS, Poems from St. Thomas Virgin Island. I am glad to be a poet in retirement where I can do it the way I desire… no strings attached. And I love taking my “Poetry Breaks.”
