Poetry Break Booklet

CHAPTER TWO

STRUCTURING THE “POETRY BREAK” SESSIONS:

The following will serve as a general guide on how to set up and run a successful “Poetry Break” program in a public library, with a focus on community involvement, learning more about poetry and the sharing of authentic or original poetry. The structure of Poetry Break is designed to foster creativity and connections with the local poetry community: 1. Every “Poetry Break “ should start on time with a general agenda of how the poetry session will be shared for that day. 2. Introductions and a welcome should be conducted by the “session leader” (informally chosen). It is always good to welcome all new and visiting attendees, especially if some one is present for the first time and desires to learn about or wants to recite their poetry.
