JROTC INSTRUCTORS MAJ (R) ROBERT NEWBILL Major (retired) Robert Newbill enlisted in the Army in 1995 after high school and was later accepted into the United States Military Academy. In 2002, he graduated from West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Infantry.

MAJ(R) Newbill served in various assignments during his career, including two combat deployments, and retired from active-duty service in 2019. Since retiring, he worked two years as a project manager in the commercial construction industry before be coming a JROTC instructor. MAJ(R) Newbill’s wife, Jerah, teaches seventh grade math at Sammy McClure Middle School. Their daughter, Lilly, attends college at the University of North Georgia. Their daughter, Ella, is a member of the North Paulding High School cheer team and JROTC program. Their son, Samuel, plays baseball and attends Sammy McClure Middle School. SFC (R) JAMES R. GLENN - ARMY INSTRUCTOR Sergeant First Class James R. Glenn was born here in Atlanta, Georgia, and grew up in Hogansville, Georgia. He graduated from Hogansville High School and assumed a career in the Armed Forces. His family history includes his father who served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam War Era, uncles and cousins who also served in the Army during World War II, Korean War, and The Vietnam War, which led to an easy decision for him to serve in the Armed Forces. His military career led him to several locations around the globe, including Infantry units in North Carolina, California, countries of Asia, countries of the Middle East, and two deployments. He served in two major Infantry Divisions and Expeditionary Forces, 1 st and 2 nd Infantry Division, and 1 st and 2 nd Expeditionary Force, which are Tip of The Spear – Long Range Surveillance Units Special Forces Capable, and lastly The Recruiting Battalion for the Army National Guard here in Douglas and Paulding Counties. He received his Bachelor’s degree in International Business and his Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, while serving on active duty. Upon retiring, he began teaching Army JROTC for Fulton County Schools, and now the awesome South Paulding High School – Go Spartan’s!
