When it comes to po boys, PARKWAY BAKERY AND TAVERN takes the crown! The spacious Mid City spot is home to the famous Surf & Turf: slow cooked roast beef topped with Louisiana Gulf shrimp and smothered in gravy.
BLUE CRAB – "This is a great place to view the lake and the sailing. You also have a view of the Southern Yacht Club. It was founded in 1849 and is the second oldest yacht club in the country. PRO TIP: Sit on the deck and watch the gorgeous LA sunset over the lake."
PRO TIP: You can order food at the bar. If the line in the back is super long, try the bar route and grab a drink while you wait.
PRO TIP: Don't have time to wait in line? Download the official Parkway app to order food, then pick it up from their convenient drive-thru window! PRO TIP: Oyster po boys are only served on Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you're in town for Thanksgiving, pre-order the Thanksgiving po boy.
JACQUES-IMO'S – "It's unique. PRO TIP: Get a watermelon mojito and people watch outside; there will be a wait but it's worth it."
LOLA'S – "The garlic butter alone is to-die-for, but I also love the vibe of the outdoor seating. PRO TIP: If you ask, they'll give you a tin of garlic butter to go!" MONA LISA – "It is the best Italian restaurant in town! Cheap, authentic, and unpretentious. PRO TIP: They don't take reservations, so arrive early. Order the Paneed Veal."

The po boy, a culinary mainstay of the city, can be enjoyed many different ways. Fried shrimp and fried oyster were deemed the most popular types (especially if you do half of each) with roast beef coming in close second.

Why do you love living in New Orleans? I love how laid-back New Orleans is. It very much reminds me of growing up with the Caribbean side of my family. Where would you go if you only had one day in New Orleans? I would go on a civil rights history tour of the city! New Orleans was the home to a lot of civil rights organizing, but doesn't always get featured as much as other cities.
What is the most eccentric thing you love about New Orleans? That you can find amazing food everywhere – including our gas stations! Favorite restaurant to eat at the bar? Coop's Place – Coop's offers amazing New Orleans classics like jambalaya, étouffee, and po boys in a casual, dive bar vibe. PRO TIP: Get the taste plate and the cajun pasta.
